Sunset Cove is dedicated to driving shareholder value through the economical acquisition and development of polymetallic, precious metals and copper properties, in Latin America.
Sunset Cove Mining is a publicly traded Canadian Corporation listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange Venture Exchange: TSE-V: SSM, headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, with an office in Montreal. Public access to company documents are available to the public on the Canadian regulatory website www.sedar.com
As Canadian company investors in Sunset Cove and the company itself benefit from National Instrument 43-101, which can be described as perhaps the best regulatory system in the world designed to prevent misrepresentation in the global mining industry. For more on NI 43-101 see our section: NI 43-101.
As a junior mineral exploration and development mining company Sunset Cove is focusing on Peru first, where it has a wholly owned subsidiary, Minera del Sunset S.A.C., managed by mining industry veterans steeped in local knowledge and rich in production mining expertise.
Sunset Cove will first become a financing vehicle for the development of base and precious metal mining and exploration assets in Peru and then for other mineral rich Latin American countries.
The company has targeted Peru for reasons, which make compelling economic sense. Peru has some of the most important mineral reserves on earth and as a developing country the cost of doing business there is less than in other global mining jurisdictions.
According to the Peruvian Ministry of Energy and Mines the country ranks first in world silver production, second in copper and zinc, and fifth in gold. Another Peruvian advantage exists in that only 15% of the country has been explored from a mining perspective leaving an immense potential for future development.
A number of credit rating agencies, including Standard and Poors and DBRS, have given the country Investment Grade Status. Peru also has signed free trade agreements with Canada, America and China, which as a Canadian corporation benefit Sunset Cove. For more on the Peruvian advantage see our section, Why Peru.
Through its management team and Minera del Sunset, Sunset Cove has access to local knowledge and site-specific expertise, which brings with it a host of networking opportunities. In many cases this results in Peruvians negotiating with Peruvians, a clear advantage when it comes time to dot the i’s and cross the t’s.
One of our most important assets is the way we do business and the philosophy that guides us. Simply put our philosophy is that our stakeholders deserve a return on their investment. Seen in this light, management at Sunset Cove doesn’t just work for a salary, they work for the shareholder and maintain a personal approach with shareholders.
Based on this simple premise our corporate philosophy can also be seen as waste not, want not. Your money is too important for anything else. And this explains why the way we do business is not the status quo. We structure our deals in order to make them as cost efficient as possible.
Our agreements to purchase are usually spread out over a five-year period, with the bulk of the payments scheduled over the last three years. This provides us with enough time to make sure that indeed, the property can become a profitable resource.
To structure this kind of agreement in a way that deals fairly with all involved requires patience. Landowners in Peru, like landowners everywhere, have a tendency to overvalue their properties. To arrive at a real and fair value requires negotiation.
The Sunset Cove advantage can be summed up in three words, financing, knowledge and responsibility. In this context responsibility means dealing fairly with all our stakeholders, from our shareholders to our employees, from the property owners we negotiate with to the communities in which we work. Responsibility builds reputation and we believe our reputation will be worth a great deal.
In this context local site-specific knowledge allows us to be nimble and quick and provides us with the ability to structure our financial arrangements in order to provide our stakeholders with the greatest possible return.
